Pi Network mainnet Update: KYC deadline extended to Feb 28

Pi Network has extended the Grace Period deadline for KYC (Know Your Customer) verification and Mainnet migration.(Click here) The new Pi KYC deadline is February 28, 2025. The reason for the extension is to provide more time for Pioneers to secure their Pi coins and complete necessary verification steps.

Pi Network confirmed that this extension is independent of the Open Network launch, which remains on track for Q1 2025. The grace period deadline extension will not impact the launch timing.

According to the announcement, Pioneers who fail to complete their KYC and migration by February 28, 2025, will simply lose their coins.

Why the Pi KYC Extension Was Made

The Pi core team has given the KY extension for various reasons, including:

  • Increase participation: More Pioneers will have the opportunity to complete KYC and migrate to Mainnet.
  • Address technical issues: Some users facing verification challenges will have additional time to resolve them.
  • Strengthen the network: A larger verified user base will contribute to a more secure and robust Pi ecosystem ahead of the Open Network launch.

What if I miss the Pi KYC deadline?

The Pi Network core team warns users that pioneers missing the February 28 deadline will only retain the Pi mined within the last six months. Any older coins mined will be lost.

They emphasized the importance of the Grace Period in maintaining a decentralized, real-user-driven ecosystem. Ensuring verified participation will prevent unverified accounts from affecting the network’s integrity and scalability.

With the February 28, 2025, deadline fast approaching, Pi Network urges all Pioneers to act immediately. This may be the final extension, making it crucial for users to secure their Pi coins before it’s too late.
